When looking into getting new doors or windows for your home, the term “thermal break” or “thermally broken” is something you may have come across, but been unsure of what it means. Well, first off, your door being thermally broken is not a defect, even if the word “broken” might make you think so. Quite the opposite!
Thermal break is the term for the insulation in the frame of your window or door. Aluminium is very durable and stylish, but doesn’t have the best insulating properties due to its high conductivity. We use a barrier made from a plastic polymer to counteract this and make sure heat doesn’t escape from your home. This will provide outstanding thermal performance, perfect for decreasing your energy bills without sacrificing good quality insulation.
There are other reasons you may want to choose thermally broken windows or doors for your home. Environmental concerns weigh heavy on the minds of many of us, and so using less energy is important for those who want to reduce their carbon footprint. If your home is better insulated, there will not be as much of a need to use energy on heating. Additionally, less condensation will form on the glass of your sleek windows or aluminium doors. And yet, after all of this, we still have the option to not have a thermal break for those customers who do not feel it to be necessary for their living situation. Everybody’s home is different and it’d do nobody any good if we didn’t provide alternate options to our customers.
